Friends,
After nearly six years and over 150 episodes, we’ve come to the conclusion that it’s time to retire our microphones and bring the curtain down on The Image Doctors podcast. This is not a decision that we made lightly, but it is something that was in our best interests. We would like to thank all of you who have followed us from our humble beginnings in December of 2005 and also those of you who maybe just recently discovered us.
We never expected The Image Doctors to be such a popular production within the photography community. We are especially thankful to all of the great photographers who have joined us over the years to help enlighten our listeners on exciting ways to foster their interest in photography. Even more than that, we are humbled by the sheer number of our listeners who have written us or posted on our Facebook Page to ask questions, suggest topics, or offer their thanks for our tidbits. Without you, we’d never have made it this long. Finally, we’d like to thank Nikonians.org for their steadfast commitment to delivering The Image Doctors podcast free to everyone around the world.
We wish everyone who supported us the very best going forward and good light.

My first thought was: Oh, no, this must be a hoax! But I understand everything has to come to an end, and I would like to thank you guys, from the bottom of my heart, for so many years of excellent episodes. I have learnt so much from you. Thank you.
Thank *you*– I’m going to miss your podcast immensely. I’ve learned so much from listening to you!
So sad to hear. I have learned so much (and helped others as well) because of you. Good luck in your upcoming adventurers. “Not all who wander are lost” JRR Tolkien.
Thanks a lot guys! Commuting will never be the same again…
Thanks for everything you have given us over the years.
I hope you have gotten something back.
I will miss your inspiration and good humor.
My best wishes for your future projects.
Thank you gentlemen for all you’ve given the photographic community. It was good to run into you at the USAFA (the day I forgot the card for my d300)…. Best to you and thanks again!
Many thanks for all the great information you have shared. As a new listener, I was just starting to get the hang of downloading the podcasts.
Still have a ways to go so I hope the old ones will be archived on iTunes. I look forward to keeping in touch via your web sites and blogs. Thanks again for the Nikon experience.
I have listened to all your shows guys – thanks a lot for what you have achieved. May I ask what is driving you to stop the show?
Sad news to read, guys. Thanks for all the things you shared, it helped me to grow. Your stories from phototrips always made me want to grab the camera and jump over the ocean to join you.
Good light for all you plans for furure, RIP The Image Doctors podcast.
I bought my first DSLR in 2005 and found your show. Thank you so much for the education, joy and entertainment you both have provided me over the years. Your podcast will be missed by me and many more. Thank you.
Thanks Jason and Rick for brightening up my Thursdays and for teaching me about all things Nikon. My all time favourites are the Dave Black interviews. The man is a legend. Good luck in whatever you do next you’ve left a big pair of shoes for someone to fill. Roy.
Sad to see you go. now who will keep me company in the car as i drive from account to account in my service area. thanks for all the tips and tricks.
Great job guys….Top notch. Top drawer. Thank you.
It has been a great run. I’ve enjoyed the podcast a lot and will miss it. I am glad I had an opportunity to participate in one of your photo safaris. Best of luck to both of you in your future endeavors.
Thanks guys! Always liked your show. You will be missed!
I had given up on photography years ago, but rediscovered it after going digital back in 2006. Your show rekindled my love for creating images and formed the basis of years of serious growth. Friends and family are blown away by my images, but their beauty can always be traced back to hours of info and ideas you guys saturated us with.
The utter breadth of knowledge you so freely and happily shared is absolutely priceless. We all appreciate the commitment -it couldn’t have been easy! Finally, thanks for pushing us to get out there, shoot and learn what works best for us.
All The Best!
Alan
Thank you Jason and Rick. I have enjoyed listening to your very imformative podcasts. I even look forward to them each time.
Best wishes in your future experiences
Thanks and farewell. After I discovered your show a few years ago, I went back to episode #1 and caught up with all of the shows I had missed. It was fun.
My first reaction was one of sadness; I have been enjoying your podcasts for many years. What I must do now is simply say “thank you” from the bottom of my heart. If you ever return to Point Reyes or Point Lobos please give me a holler.
Your podcast will be truly missed. Thank you for all the great information you have given over the years.
All the best to you both on your future projects.
Oh no! What will we listen to on road trips now? Seriously, thanks for all that you have shared. I’ll miss your podcasts. You were both very generous with your knowledge and I’m sure it took up a lot of the time you can now use for other photographic endeavors.
I’ve purchased 2 ebooks and attended a webinar. Thanks for all you’ve done for us. Keep us informed along the way. Thanks.
Sorry to hear that ! I tried to listen to various photo podcasts on the internet, but was always eagerly waiting for yours every two weeks, as it was the best I could found… You always found the right words and the right presentation, and even if I did not always learn new things, that was like discussing with old friends…
Thx a lot for your time and kindness, that was a great job and I’ll miss your podcast.
All the best on your future projects
Thank you Rick and Jason for the countless hours you have devoted to help others to rediscover photography, although I subscribe to many photo podcasts, yours is the one I always go to first and keep up with. You will be missed, it was fun to hear you grow and discover new things about photography, we all grew with you. Rick, I was so glad to hear how you included your son in your adventures, it showed us the true person you are. Thanks to both of you for sharing your valuable time, insights and love of photography. Thank you from your friends.
Will miss your podcasts. You re-ignited my passion for shooting in both the technical end and in the simple joy of capturing the world around us. Thanks.
Tom, Sag Harbor , NY.
Jason & Rick – I’m sure it was a really tough decision and, while it’s not a popular one, I trust it’s the right move for you personally. One aspect that I don’t want to go unnoticed is your pioneering spirit. A lot has evolved in the past 6 years and to, at that time, grab two mics and start recording your ideas was a bold move. Congratulations on building a great following and community that any photographer would be proud of. Thanks and good luck!
PS – So many great shows but if I had to pick one favorite, it would be when you shot the air show in the heat and recorded a portion on location. Great stuff!
Rick, Jason, all good things must come to an end. But I still feel very sorry you guys call it quits. The two of you (and your many guests) have been with me for a number of years, and I’ve listened to all the episodes, many of them more than once. Your voices became familiar, almost as friends, although we don’t know each other and have never met. You guys have taught me so many new things about photography, both in general as well as about Nikon stuff in particular. But above anything else it was the wonder and excitement that stood out for me. You really made it fun and inspirational! Made me go out and try new things. Made me realise that the end result (the photo) is pretty important, but the way to get there (the process) maybe even more so. Kinda Zen-like: the journey is the destination. So many thanks for evoking that emotion. I must say I’m left with a sorta open-ended feeling. I have the feeling it’s all very sudden. No closure. Your last episode was a nice recap on flash photography, but no celebration speeches on reaching that 150th milestone. Also no words on retirement. So, I’m kinda puzzled, and sincerely hope you both are convinced you made the right choice. The least I can do is honor that decision with respect. I wish you all the best in the future and with endeavoring your photographic dreams. I know you guys made my dreams a little brighter!
What a sad day to hear your podcasts are over. Can’t tell you how many times I have listened to the same podcasts over and over while waiting for the new ones. Your Ideas and thoughts I found inspiring and motavating as well as costly at times as your podcasts were the reason for some new gear. Thanks for efforts and good luck.
WOW, I’m truly stunned. I look forward to this show more than any other I subscribe to
Ouch – your podcast was a much appreciated part of my walk to work. Thanks for all those experiences that you shared with us.
How about not stopping entirely but doing an occasional special issue – for instance after you’ve been using a brand new Nikon for a few days? I can imagine that an occasional get-together to do a podcast can still be fun!
Of the many podcasts that I regularly listen too, yours is by far the best. Both of you are immensely knowledgable and I have learned a lot over the many years I have listened. Thank you for that. I hope maybe someday we will get to hear your voices again on some other project. Keep us all posted on that. Good luck and thank you.
Sad news indeed! Thank you for all you’ve done for the Nikon community. You will be missed. Best wishes to both of you!
I knew this would happen some day. The effort you guys put into this is a huge demand on your time, your families, and your life energy. Knowing how much this kind of public service takes out of someone, makes me ever so appreciative that you did for so long. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. For many of these years, I had to commute 360 miles to see me fiance. You two were a very welcome companion. I learned a lot, that is for sure. And, you helped me spend a whole lot of money I might not have otherwise. I feel like I know you very well, and maybe I do. Yet, if I were to walk up to one of you in a restaurant, the relationship would be largely one way in terms of personal knowledge. I do wish you both success and happiness. It would be good from time to time to hear what you do in the future, perhaps the odd posting in an obvious place on Nikonians. Thank you again, Dave Ralph. Horseheads, NY
This is worst than when Cheers went off the air. Sad times…
Thanks indeed fellows. I have enjoyed the years.
I listened from the start and like a lot of people here my commute to work just wont be the same. Its like you guys are friends but we havnt met . My photography improved because of the information, interviews and tips that you guys put together .The stories from far off places on you trips made for great listening. All the best to you Jason and Rick ,going to miss the show. Where do i get my prescription filled now ?
Thanks to you both

Gentleman,
Thank you very much for the wonderful show, which has been both educational and inspirational. I have learned a tremendous amount from you. Just the other day, I thought to myself, “I really need to re-listen to their podcast on flash photography.”
Thanks for your outstanding work, and best wishes on your future projects.

What a void we feel when we get used to quality content from experts and it ends. I remember an Image Doctors episode when I started using a DSLR, and Jason was getting excited about making a particular point (I believe it was about various exposure settings). I realized that I wasn’t following what you were both talking about, so I calendared the episode for 3 months to listen again. After listening to you in the meantime, catching up in the archives and shooting as much as I could, I listened again and followed it. You both have given me and many others valuable education. Thank you and best wishes in the future.
I’ve enjoyed the podcast for years and learned a lot.
Thanks for all you have done.
I look forward to your next project.
Thanks Rick and Jason for expanding, explaining and confirming of the joy of photography. I learnt lots (the AF on button will always be a reminder of you:) ), bought some of Jason’s ebooks and had the pleasure of meeting Rick in Sydney a few months back – I’m so glad I came across the podcast!
I wish you both the very best, and hope to hear about your future projects.
Regards,
Adrian
Just found out, thought my iTunes feed was corupt!
The end of an era!
Gutted!
Sincerely wish you both the very best!
Thank you!
Bugger! Guess all good things must come to an end but I’ll miss your fortnightly updates on all things Nikon, and hints / tips / advice on photography in general.
All the best in your future persuits!
Cheers from “down under”
Jeff
Thanks for all the time, energy and work you put into the podcast over the years. It has been a favorite and I will miss it. My very best wishes to both of you going forward.
But why? Couldn’t you give us a bit of an explanation?
I am going to miss you terribly. Any way to keep in touch with you guys?
What are your plans?
I was switrching computers and having problems with podcast downloads on iMusic so I just assumed the glitch was at my end. Like everyone else I want to thank you for all the energy, imagination and plain old work you put into all those episodes. May the sun shine on your next projects — but not directly overthead
Thanks so much for your terrific podcast. I really looked forward to each episode so I’m really disappointed you guys and “retiring”, although I understand these things must eventually finish. Yours was one of the best photography podcasts around, you’ve gone out on a high. Well done and thanks so much again for all your terrific work and the way you so generously shared your knowledge over the years.
Just wanted to add my thanks for a wonderful series of podcasts. I learned a great deal about both the tech side and the aesthetic side of photography, while being entertained. Jason, it was great hearing you again on the Photo Professors, and Rick, I look forward to your appearance on the show. They have big shoes to fill. Best wishes to you both.
